I received a couple messages asking why so negative and why am I “attacking” the Sheriff’s Office.
I know it seems that way, but there is no easy way to point out what is so desparately in need of change in wholly a positive manner. What has been happening the past 10 years or so is so very ugly.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel; there is something to be positive about. Look around you;look at yourself. So many men and women in the Sheriff’s Office do a great job, do the best they can every day they put on their uniform and go to work. There are many great, positive, ethical and competent people around you every day. That is what and who I am fighting for. That is what you should be fighting for.
I’ve heard a lot of people are afraid to step up and speak out for Kevin Jensen. The only way to keep that light at the end of the tunnel shining is to fight to get to the end of the tunnel. To fight to make the ethical, competent deputies you are shine as the stars of this office and not a unprincipled administration that would rather you be silent and complicit if you won’t be compliant.
How do you plow through the muck to clean it up without getting dirty? Because if this election is anything like her last, there will be people she will gladly bury in as much dirt as possible to win. We can’t be afraid to stand up and speak out about what happens here. We can’t be afraid or unwilling to point out the failures in policy and practice that we all know are wrong. And we can’t let any more Sierra Lamar’s or Audrie Pott’s go without the hand of justice there for them. The people who are on the streets in this office are absolutely capable of being all that and more. But the only way you will ever be all that and more is to make sure you have leaders that want that to be the focus of the office.
Have a great weekend, relax, enjoy and next week, go out and support Kevin Jensen as he makes his official announcement to run for the Office of Sheriff. He can’t win without you fighting for him.
